Review of First Nations mental health and suicide prevention services and the Integrated Team Care program

We commissioned a review of sector funding arrangements and service provider capability for First Nations mental health and suicide prevention services and the Integrated Team Care program.

About the review

In September 2022, we engaged Ninti One Limited, in partnership with First Nations Co., to review sector funding arrangements and service provider capability for:

These services are delivered through commissioning bodies for example, Primary Health Networks and other health organisations.

The review considered how we can best deliver these services in a way that supports the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

Who the review affects

The review affects:

  • Primary Health Networks
  • health services commissioned by Primary Health Networks to provide First Nations mental health and suicide prevention services
  • health services that deliver the Integrated Team Care program
  • clients who access these services.

Why the review is important

This review will help ensure that our First Nations health programs:

  • support the National Agreement on Closing the Gap
  • build the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled sector.

Consultation

Many stakeholders contributed to this review through consultation. Read more in the review engagement summary:
