Support for research to reduce pressure on emergency departments

The Australian Government will invest up to $24 million in research to improve acute care systems and reduce emergency department waiting times. Funding is from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

The MRFF’s 2022 Models of Care to Improve the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Acute Care grant opportunity is now open. Applications close 2 March 2022.

The grant opportunity will support the top medical research and innovation project in each state and territory. These projects will research evidence-based, scalable clinical models of care to improve acute care and help reduce pressure on hospital emergency departments.

Funding is from the MRFF’s Emerging Priorities and Consumer-Driven Research initiative.
