$55.8 million for research into stem cell therapies, dementia, ageing and aged care

Applications are open for 2 new Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) grant opportunities.

The 2025 Stem Cell Therapies grant opportunity will provide up to $31.5 million for: 

  • early-stage clinical trials that generate evidence on the safety and efficacy of new stem cell therapies 
  • research that improves our understanding of stem cell-based therapies, to build community trust, acceptance and adoption. 

Funding is from the MRFF’s Stem Cell Therapies Mission

Up to $24.3 million is available under the 2025 Dementia, Ageing and Aged Care grant opportunity for projects that improve: 

  • the uptake of prevention activities by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, rural, regional and remote populations and culturally and linguistically diverse people 
  • our understanding of the barriers, enablers, impact and adoption of high-quality care for older Australians.
