1. Welcome, apologies and introductions

  • The Chair noted apologies for this meeting.

2. Contracting and Default Benefits Working Group

  • Mr Somogyi delivered a presentation to the Committee on the Working Group’s deliberations.
  • The Committee noted that the Chair would shortly finalise the Working Group’s advice and provide this to the Committee for its consideration at its next meeting.
  • Mr Somogyi noted the positive contributions of Working Group members, and the progress which has been made on these issues.

3. Verbal updates

  • The Committee received a brief update from the Secretariat on the discussions of the Information Provision for Consumers Working Group and the arrangements for upcoming meetings of the Clinical Definitions Working Group.

4. Product design

  • Mr Koce delivered a presentation on a product design proposal developed by the hirmaa Reducing Complexity Working Group.
  • Deloitte Actuaries and Consultants delivered a presentation on further modelling and analysis undertaken on the main product design approaches under consideration by the Committee.
  • The Committee considered the new analysis and discussed the validity of the key assumptions and methodology underpinning the modelling.
  • The Committee further discussed the impacts on premiums of applying different minimum coverage requirements and transition issues associated with moving to new product design arrangements.
  • The Committee noted that Deloitte would shortly finalise its interim analysis (inclusive of the additional modelling undertaken for this meeting). The Committee also noted that Deloitte will provide further assistance to the Committee in the immediate term to help it finalise advice for Government on product design reforms.

In this section
