Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN)

The current Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) arrangement commenced operation in 2004 to assist people with the out-of-pocket costs associated with out-of-hospital medical services.

Health services can be expensive, but may cost you less once a Medicare Safety Net threshold has been reached. At this point an additional, higher Medicare benefit for all eligible services will be paid for the remainder of the calendar year.
