Mapping Clinical Placements: Organisation and Capacity Building

Health Workforce Australia (HWA) is seeking tenders from suitably qualified organisations to undertake an extensive and detailed Australia-wide consultation and information gathering process across the health and education sectors.

This project will establish an evidence base to inform decisions necessary for the implementation of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) reform measures to increase the capacity of clinical training in Australia. A key measure of the reform package is the funding of clinical placements for professional entry health courses, which will act as a lever to create greater capacity in the system. This will be supported by the establishment of Integrated Regional Training Networks that will have a pivotal role in facilitating, identifying and aligning new placements across the higher education and clinical training sectors.

To implement these two initiatives, HWA is seeking advice, based on data and information collected from the field, to guide decision-making, and therefore answer the following questions:
This project will involve consultations with all universities and their respective teaching departments, existing and potential placement providers, state and territory jurisdictions, and other stakeholders, groups or organisations that have an interest in the organisation, management and delivery of clinical placements such as university departments of rural health, rural clinical schools and GP training providers.

Tenderers should ideally have the capacity to mobilise a project team nationally, and may therefore seek to form a consortium or partnership to ensure appropriate coverage of all states and territories. Alternatively, tenderers may choose to submit proposals to undertake the project in specific states and territories.

Timeframe for submission: 5 weeks
